To add students individually, go to the students management page and click the Add individual students button. Now enter 1 email address per student - using the Tab key to add a new line - and submit. Your students will receive an email invitation asking them to join your virtual classroom on Stupeflix.
Students will need to click the link in their invitation email and follow the steps - either create or login to their account - to join your classroom. Once they've done that, you will see them in the students management page, and you will be able to access their videos or remove them.
If you do not have access to students email addresses, you can easily create accounts for them, by using email address aliases in Gmail. In order to do everything yourself, there is an important subtlety: you need to use 2 different browsers, one to invite students and another one to create the student accounts*.
Here's how it works:
If this still sounds like too much work, and your school or district provides email accounts for students under one website domain, try linking the school domain to your classroom account!
* If you do not have access to 2 browsers, then you just need to log out of your Stupeflix Classroom Account after inviting students in step 2.
If a student you want to invite already has a Stupeflix Account enrolled in another Classroom Account, then she will get a message saying that she can't join your classroom. This can happen if another teacher has created another Classroom Account and has invited the same student. In order to avoid this, try inviting the student using another email address, so she can have two Stupeflix Accounts, one for each classroom.
Note: If teachers are part of the same Stupeflix for Schools account, then students can join multiple classroom within the same school.
When you send an invitation to students, they receive an email asking them to join your virtual classroom on Stupeflix. Until they have clicked the link in the invitation email and created their account, you will not see them in your students management page.
Linking a website domain is a great way for all your students to join your classroom without having to send email invitations, or having to create individual student accounts. It works for schools and districts where all students have an email address under the same website domain. For instance, if all teachers and students have an email for the school in the form of myname@modernschool.edu, then linking the modernschool.edu website domain to your Classroom Account will instantly allow all students to join your classroom when registering to Stupeflix with their school email.
If all students have an email like studentname@modernschool.edu, then go to the students management page and click the Link a website domain button. Enter your school domain without the http://www. part, e.g. modernschool.edu, and click Submit. Your request will be sent to Stupeflix staff who will review it for eligibility. We may send you verification questions via email. Expect 2 business days for your website domain to be approved. Once approved, any user creating an account on Stupeflix with an email address matching your domain will instantly join your classroom.
In order to be eligible, the submitted website domain must be directly attributed to the school, or school district, or education institution in which the account owner is identified as teacher or school administrator.
Schools using Google Apps for Education will find the website domain option very useful. However, you do not need your school to be using Google Apps to be able to link its domain to your Classroom Account. Any eligible domain will work, whichever IT system manages students accounts. This being said, there are additional benefits to using Stupeflix with Google Apps for Education: if your school uses Google Apps, you can ask your school IT administrator to add Stupeflix to the Google Apps accessible to students. After that, students will have 1-click access to Stupeflix from their Google account.
A school website domain can only be linked to one Classroom or School Account on Stupeflix. If your school website domain is already reserved, it is probably because another teacher at your school has already linked the domain to their Stupeflix Account. In this case, your school may consider getting a Stupeflix account for the whole school, so all teachers can have access to all students within the school domain.
Yes! Some schools have a different domain for teachers and students accounts, so we made sure to add that possibility.
In addition to linking your school website domain, you can invite other students individually via email. All students who join your classroom via the email invitations, or the school domain, will be found in your students management page.
Once your school website domain is linked to your Classroom Account, anyone who will create a Stupeflix Account using an email matching your domain will instantly join your classroom. You cannot exclude individual users whom email matches your linked domain to join your classroom. However, if you find in your students management page users who are not your students, you can remove them.
To remove students from your classroom, go to the students management page, find the student in the list, and select the Remove student option.
To watch student videos, go to the students management page, find the student in the list, and select the See videos and projects option. This will take you in the student account, where you will be watch, delete or edit student videos.
Student Accounts can export their projects into 360p videos - that is, videos of resolution 640x360. Your Classroom Account allows you to export video projects into 360p or 720p videos - of a higher 1280x720 resolution. If you want to upgrade a student video to 720p, go to their account following the steps above, and click on the exported video you want to upgrade. On the video page, right under the video player, select the Upgrade to 720p option.
To delete a student video, go to the students management page, find the student in the list, and select the See videos and projects option. This will take you in the student account, where you will be delete student videos.
To edit the content of a student video that's already exported, go to the student account following the steps above, click on a particular video to go the video page, and click the Edit as a new project button under the video player. Once in the editor, make the changes and export the video again. The original video will remain in the student account, you need to delete it following the steps above.
In a School Account, the account owner, or existing teachers within the school, can select individual users and upgrade them to teacher status. To setup a teacher account, the teacher needs to first join the School Account by registering to Stupeflix, just like students, either using an email matching a linked school website domain, or via en email invitation. Once the teacher has joined, her account will be found in the Edu users management page. To upgrade the Edu User to teacher status, select the Upgrade to teacher option in the contextual menu for that user.
Once a Edu User has been upgraded to teacher status in a School Account, she has access to the Edu User management page where she can select Edu Users to join her classroom, access students accounts and videos and watch, edit or delete their videos, and upgrade other Edu Users as teachers. Teachers can also make unlimited 720p videos - of resolution 1280x720, where other Edu Users can only make 360p videos - of resolution 640x360.
To enroll students in their classroom, teachers access the Edu User management page, and search within the existing Edu Users individual students, who can be enrolled by clicking on the star icon next to their name.
Yes, multiple teachers can select the same Edu Users as students in their classroom. All teachers will be able to access and manage the videos made by their enrolled student.
If some students are not visible in the Edu User management page, it means they have not yet registered to Stupeflix. If they have an email account within a website domain which has been linked to the School Account, then the student just needs to register to Stupeflix. Otherwise the student needs to be invited individually via email.
