You can upload in Stupeflix most photos and images from your computer: JPG, PNG, or GIF.
BMP and RAW files are not supported, these are uncompressed images that tend to be large and take too long to upload. Alpha channels (transparency) are supported for PNG and GIF images. The maximum image file size that can be uploaded on Stupeflix is 40MB.
If the resolution of your images is smaller than the resolution of the video you want to make, images will appear pixelated in the video. If your images are in very high resolution, as new digital cameras with 10 mega pixels and more allow, they will take a long time to upload. We found that the sweet spot for image resolution is a bit higher than the video you want to make. We recommend uploading images of at least 1 mega pixel, so you can upgrade your video to High Definition without losing in quality. For instance 1200x900 to 1600x1200 images look great even in High Definition videos, while being relatively quick to upload.
We recommend that you rotate your pictures to the correct orientation before uploading them to Stupeflix. After all, that's how you want to keep them, right?
You can upload MP4, MOV, MPG, FLV and AVI video files in Stupeflix.
WMV video files (Microsoft proprietary format) are not supported. The maximum file size for videos is 40MB.
You can upload MP3 and WAV audio files in Stupeflix.
OGG and WMA files are not supported. The maximum size for audio files is 30MB.
The videos you make and download on Stupeflix are in MP4 format, which can be played on any device, including iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices.
To get more technical: the videos are encoded using H.264 for video and AAC for audio. High Quality videos, in 640x360 resolution, have a total bitrate of about 1,150 kbps and a 25 fps framerate. High Definition videos, in 1280x720 resolution, have a total bitrate of about 1,750 kbps and a 25 fps framerate.
MP4 is the most versatile file format and offers the best quality vs. compression compromise. However, some applications like Microsoft Powerpoint, may require videos to be in a WMV or AVI file format. If you need your Stupeflix videos in one of these formats, there are many websites, like encoding.com, that can help you do that. First, download your Stupeflix video on your hard drive. Then go to encoding.com and use the simple form to receive via email a link to your video in the new format.
